It was a big night for Nigerian music and Nigerians at the 2022 BET Awards which took place on Sunday, June 26. As well as taking home two BET statuettes in one night for the very first time, Nigerian artists also broke new grounds with their stage performances.

Pheelz became the first international artist to perform at the BET pre-show, and Fireboy DML became the first Nigerian to perform at the BET Awards main-show.

Their performances highlighted the remarkable streak of growing global appeal for Afrofusion that also saw Burna Boy perform at the 2022 BillBoard Music Awards which held a couple of months ago.
