The nominees for the 2022 Soul Train Awards were unveiled on Thursday, October 20, with Tems, Burna Boy, CKay, Fireboy DML and Wizkid all earning a spot.

The Soul Train Awards, presented by Black Entertainment TV (BET), honours the best in African-American culture, music, and entertainment. Actor and comedian Deon Cole will host this year’s show on Sunday, November 13 in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

Burna Boy earned 4 nominations. His hit song “Last Last” is nominated in the Song of The Year category, The Ashford & Simpson Songwriters Award, and Video of The Year. Burna also landed a Best R&B/Soul Male Artist nomination.

Tems is up for 3 awards. By working on ‘Move’ with Beyonce & Grace Jones from the “Renaissance” album, she was nominated in the Best Collaboration category. Tems is also nominated for the Best R&B/Soul Female Artist, and Best New Artist category.

Meanwhile Ckay and Fireboy DML will compete alongside Tems for Best New Artist award.

Wizkid got two nominations, the first one coming in the Best Dance Performance category, and the second in the Best Collaboration category. Both of them are as a result of his collaboration with Chris Brown on “Call Me Everyday,” which is off the pop icon’s latest album, “Breezy.”
