53rd NAACP Image Awards: Tems and Wizkid Continue Outstanding International Award Run

The 53rd NAACP Image Awards has kicked off virtual events, with some winners announced during the pre-show on Monday night, February 20. Nigerian singers Tems, and Wizkid continued their outstanding international award run on the night, winning the awards for Outstanding International Song and Outstanding Duo, Group or Collaboration for their respective works on ‘No Woman No Cry’ (Black Panther: Wakanda Forever) and ‘Call Me Everyday’ (with Chris Brown).

Beyonce won the Outstanding Album Award, Outstanding Female Artist, and the Outstanding Soul/R&B Song Award, her latest album ‘Rennaissance’ pulling its weight on the night.

Elsewhere, there were wins for Silk Sonic, Quavo, Maverick City Music and Kirk Frankin, and the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Soundtrack crew, including director, Ryan Coogler and composer Ludwig Göransson, Archie Davis and Dave Jordan.

The full ceremony will take place on Saturday, 25th February, with more winners set to be confirmed.
