Netflix is the most nominated studio with 35 nominations, a reflection of how streaming services ruled 2020 due to the pandemic.

Viola Davis became the most nominated black actress in the history of the Oscars (4) and the only black female performer with two best actress nominations. She is also the favourite to take home this year’s award for best actress for her work in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom. Star!

Daniel Kaluya will become the 7th youngest winner of the Oscars if he wins at this year’s edition of the ceremony. He was nominated in the best supporting actor category for his performance in Judas and the Black Messiah.

This year, two women have been nominated in the best director category, Chloe Zhao and Emerald Fennell. The first time in history.
