Alec Baldwin revealed in an interview with CNN that he was suddenly fired from a movie he was supposed to appear in due to the Rust Shooting. Rust a film starring the Alec Baldwin, Travis Flammel and Jensen Ackles began filming in October 2021 in New Mexico but was suspended indefinitely after a tragic event occurred on set. Baldwin, while handling a prop revolver onset of Rust fired a single shot that injured and killed Halyna Hutchins, a cinematographer also working on the set of the film. Baldwin claims the shot was completely accidental and that the revolver fired on its own. An FBI forensics report indicated however that the trigger had to have been pulled for the shot to have been fired. An investigation was launched on the day of the shooting by the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office and has been ongoing till date.
Baldwin while being interviewed by CNN said he’s lost five different acting jobs since the tragic event including a project he was suddenly fired from last week. The veteran actor says that he’d been in communication with film’s producers for months but was fired as he was about to get on a plane to the filming location. Baldwins full comment can be seen below;
“I got fired from another job yesterday. There I was all set to go to a movie, jump on a plane… I’ve been talking with these guys for months and they told me yesterday we don’t want to do the film with you because of this.”
Earlier this year, Baldwin received a lot of backlash for allegedly wanting to resume filming Rust after Hutchings death to honor her memory and for returning to acting barely five months after her passing.
Anjul Nigam, the film’s producer expressed optimism that filming for Rust will eventually continue and that doing so will honor the memory of the late cinematographer but the future of the film seems to be in real doubt.
