Burna Boy Angelique Kidjo

Legendary Beninese songstress and multi Grammy award winner Angelique Kidjo is a huge fan of Burna Boy, and countlessly referred to him as her child in a new video clip that surfaced the internet.

Apart from their occasional exchanges on social media congratulating each other on one achievement or the other, the two stars have collaborated in the past, first on Burna Boy’s 2020 record “Different” also featuring Damian Marley, and on the more recent Kidjo’s “Do Yourself.”

Burna and Kidjo dropped the video of the record on February 10, and have remained relatively close, especially after the “Ye” singer’s triumph at the 2021 Grammy awards.

Burna has also sampled several of the “We Are One” singer’s songs including the globetrotting “Wombo Lombo.”

In the viral video, Kidjo admitted that she enjoys Burna’s music, praising him for his performance on his 2013 track “Wombolombo,” which she says she likes a lot.

Not that many critics don’t know already that Burna Boy has been on a remarkable run of sold out live performances across historic venues all over the world and getting rave reviews for his stage performances, but a lively Kidjo had no reservations praising Burna’s live performances, making reference to his recent performance in Paris, where she was absolutely delighted and allegedly told the people around her that Burna Boy was her son. #TwoLegends
