Ace filmmaker Kunle Afolayan is set to continue his latest tale Anikulapo with a television series also set to stream on Netflix.
Anikulapo debuted on Netflix on September 30, introducing movie fans to Saro, a young textile weaver who settles in Oyo on his quest for greener pastures. His illicit romance with Queen Arolake, the King’s youngest bride soon sets in motion series of unfortunate events that results in him possessing the ability to tame death, earning him the name Anikulapo (One that holds death in his purse).
According to Shock.ng Kunle Afolayon seems to have unfinished business with Saro and Arolake as he seeks to continue this master storytelling in form of a spin-off television series.
Afolayon made the revelation while on an IG live session with Anikulapo’s lead actor, Kunle Remi. He disclosed that Anikulapo was initially thought out as a television series but opted for a movie instead as an audience test run.
The details of the series is unknown at this point but Kunle Afolayon promises a series just as culturally rich and enthralling as the original film.
