With only about three months before 2022 ends, we can all agree that in terms of count, we’ve spent the better part of the year already and some artists have owned that period.
As far as this post is concerned, we don’t care if they carry their hot form into the last quarter of the year or even the new year. We’re just convinced that since the turn of 2022, they’ve stayed in the game, given the fans what they want, shut critics up, and raked in some cool cash.
Of course, the cash is a consequence of their incredible performances, but it’s often why they go so hard keeping in mind the unforgiving competition.
These 5 artists have made 2022 their own.
Kizz Daniel

Kizz Daniel ended 2022 on a high, releasing the 7-track EP Barnabas which performed remarkably well. He rode that wave into 2022 and, when he released Buga featuring Tekno, the whole world stopped to take note. An issue with reneging on a performance contract in Tanzania meant he didn’t quite escape the year without no wrongs; however, celebrities are humans too and they make mistakes. Kizz has since asked fans for forgiveness and will be hoping they hearkened to his plea. We can’t rule out more that more is yet to come from him in the last quarter of 2022 anyways.
Burna Boy

Not many artists have worked harder than Burna Boy in the last couple of years. Despite his polarizing persona, Burna is loved by many, his work even more. This year, he has broken and set many new records with his sixth studio album Love Damini, a project he says is a personal love letter to his fans. And boy are they loving it!
Tems

Blessed among men is the magical Tems. Although the solo efforts have rarely come this year, Tems continues to be in high demand across the globe. She’s charting on this list mainly because of her stellar work on Future’s Wait For U, her BET Awards, and credit on Beyonce’s latest album. Her poignant vocals on Wait For U the most remarkable feature of the song and it was warmly received by listeners.
Fireboy DML

You can’t tell the story of our music this year so far without including YBNL Records singer Fireboy DML, it would be an incomprehensive story with major parts missing. From Peru to Playboy to Bandana permit me to say everything has been a hit back-2-back. DML also dropped his third studio album this year, performed at Wembley as well as during the 2022 BET Awards.
Asake

Just like his label bro, Asake has cemented his place in whatever story we’ll tell about Nigerian music this year. His meteoric rise has surprised many, but it will not have come as a shock to the singer who appears to have had everything planned out, right from when he put pen to paper on that YBNL and Empire deal. Most of his songs are anthems. Despite jabs that his beats are made from same baseline, Asake seems to have found a bewitching formula– one that has made him one of the stellar acts of 2022.
