Asake is back in the news and back among the Twitter trends; once again, for polarizing reasons. The last time he trended this much was when he abruptly ended his Baltimore concert over security threats.
The YBNL singer is looking to close the year on a high and recently announced a Lagos concert that will hold next month. But fans don’t quite agree with the cost of seeing Asake perform.
Not-so-VIP VIP tickets for Asake’s show reportedly cost seventy thousand naira, and fans have been quick to express that it’s outrageous.
Asake, back from his MMWTV U.S. tour sold out three dates of the tour’s UK leg at the o2 Brixton Academy, London in record time. He’s currently booked for an appearance on day 2 of the 2022 Fly Time Music Fest at the Eko Convention Center V.I. Lagos on December 22.
Popular Twitter commentator Daniel Regha apportioned the blame to fans who encourage their fandoms to fix their concerts at steep prices. Socialite and actress Omotara Akanni said we (fans) helped Asake pay his debts and now the artist wants to run them (fans) into debt. Meanwhile popular editor and writer Alabi Lawrence joked he might have to sell his wife’s jewellery to be able to afford Asake’s concert.
