Basketmouth Could Be Set for Amazon Prime Video Partnership

Baskemouth and the Amazon Prime Video team could be taking advantage of the ongoing Africa International Film Festival to discuss some new partnerships.

Basketmouth

Nigerian comedian and entertainment mogul Basketmouth could be set for a major collaboration with global streaming giants Amazon Prime Video.

Baskemouth kicked off the speculation when he shared a picture of him with the Amazon Prime Video team, who happen to be in Nigeria for the ongoing Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF) holding in Calabar, the capital of Cross River state.

Alongside his comedy career, Basketmouth has made a successful switch into creating several critically acclaimed shows, including his web comedy series “Papa Benji,” which premiered its second season two months ago, and the more recent “Ghana Jollof.” which is exclusive to DSTV Showmax members.

A deal with Amazon Prime would definitely be considered disruptive, given how Prime’s arch rivals, Netflix continue to dominate Nigeria and Africa at large, and signing creatives within the continent to massive lucrative deals.

Do you think Amazon and Baskemouth are up to something? Guess we’ll find out sooner rather than later.
