‘Black Adam 2’ Won’t Be Happening Anytime Soon

Black Adam 2 cancelled

The hierarchy of power in the DC Universe changes again as Dwayne Johnson confirms Black Adam 2 won’t be happening, at least not anytime soon.

The action star who finally fulfilled a 15-year dream when he finally donned the Black Adam costume in live-action in October 2022, recently revealed, via his Twitter handle, one of the decisions reached at his meeting with new heads of DC studios, James Gunn and Peter Safran.

“James Gunn and I connected, and Black Adam will not be in their first chapter of storytelling,” Johnson wrote. “However, DC and Seven Bucks have agreed to continue exploring the most valuable ways Black Adam can be utilized in future DC multiverse chapters.”

“James and I have known each other for years and have always rooted for each other to succeed,” Johnson wrote in his Tuesday post. “It’s no different now, and I will always root for DC (and Marvel) to win.”

This decision comes as no surprise to many who’ve been religiously following news about the DCEU as we know it. In the days following the new studio heads’ appointment, many cancellation have come into play – first it was that Wonder Woman 3 by Patty Jenkins wouldn’t be happening, then news about Henry Cavill’s firing as Superman almost broke the internet, and now this. It remains to be seen who else will be shown the door before 2022 comes to an end.
