Blaqbonez Recreates Rev Chris Okotie's Iconic Look to Promote Concert

Talented Nigerian rapper, singer, and songwriter Blaqbonez has recreated popular Nigerian clergyman Rev Chris Okotie’s iconic perm to promote his upcoming concert titled: Breaking the Yoke of Love, and themed: Hammer Away All My Tears, I Must Smile Again.

The Chocolate Music rapper announced the concert on social media on Thursday, January 19. “WE GO AGAIN!!!! FEBRUARY 10TH,” part of the caption of the post which ended with two screaming emojis read.

Blaqbonez released his sophomore album “Young Preacher” last year, and made his directorial debut on the music video for one of the singles that announced the album: “Back in Uni”. In the video, Blaqbonez introduced a refreshingly new concept, mimicking several other Nigerian musicians including Asake, Oxlade, Wizkid, Davido, etc.

Furthermore, recall that he held first Breaking the Yoke of Love concert last year on February 13 at the Muri Okunola Park in Victoria Island, Lagos following the release of his debut album “Sex Over Love”. To promote the concert, Blaqbonez was clad in an all-white outfit, similar to what he eventually took to stage. His promotion strategy was heralded as a masterstroke, after attendance shattered expectations.

Now, the “Fake Nikes” singer returns with a sequel, and another iconic PR stunt to promote the show. He will not only be hoping break the yoke of love this time, but also smash his attendance record from the previous instalment.

Blaqbonez, Breaking the Yoke of Love: Hammer Away All My Tears, I Must Smile Again, will take place at The Good Beach, Trinity Avenue, Lagos on February 10, four 4 days before Valentine’s Day. Time: 8 PM. Enough time to still be caught by love perhaps.
