Nicola Coughlan, who stars as Penelope Featherington on the show, recently took to Instagram to break the news.
Bridgerton, until now, has followed the order of the Julia Quinn books it’s adapted for. The first season followed the whirlwind romance of Daphne Bridgerton and Simon, The Duke of Hastings, while the second season saw Viscount Anthony Bridgerton’s heart get swept away in passion for Kate Sharma. Traditionally, the third season ought to be Benedict Bridgerton’s turn, but the show is choosing to switch things up by bringing Collins and Penelope’s forward.
There’s no release date for Bridgerton season 3 yet, but production is set to begin this summer. Coughlan’s character has been a fan-favourite of the show, so fans might not have to wait too long to see her and Collins finally fall in love.
