Burna Boy finally responds to criticisms over accusations that his security team allegedly assaulted a group of clubbers at a Club Cubana in VI, Lagos.
We had earlier reported that Burna Boy’s security team was detained over charges of battery and attempted murder after they allegedly opened fire at clubbers.
According to eyewitness accounts on the incident as per reports released by the Bar Beach Police department, Burna Boy tried to use his influence to convince the wife of a fellow clubber to party with him, and when the woman refused his advances, Burna and his team tried to intimidate the lady’s husband and eventually opened fire at the couple and their friends. In the process, a certain Lawrence and Tolu sustained bullet wounds.
Spectators had been calling for justice to run its full course over the incident, especially on social media where fans were quick to point out that this isn’t the first time the Grammy winner has made the headlines for violent conduct.
Notably, in 2017, Burna Boy was brought in for questioning after assailants confessed to being hired by him to rob singer Mr 2Kay at Eko Hoteal after a concert. Burna and 2Kay had been engulfed in a cold-brawl after 2Kay appeared to have a major bone to pick with the “African Giant” singer’s comments over Nigerian pastors.
However, both parties have since made peace.
Nonetheless, adamant of his innocence, Burna took to Twitter on Wednesday, June 15 to sarcastically dismiss his involvement in this latest controversy.
“Nigerian Social media can say BURNA BOY started Boko haram, e no go shock me,” said the “Last Last” singer.
