On Sunday, 20th February 2023, the NBA all-star game happened at Salt City Utah, where superstars on both sides gathered to raise money for charity. Fans present at the game got to enjoy electrifying performances from Team Lebron and Team Giannis. But it didn’t end there. Naija artists Burna Boy, Rema, and Tems were present to add some more flavour to the show.
They showed why Afrobeats is the new rock, giving fans an Afrobeats-themed performance that will age well in the history of the NBA all-star game. Toronto Raptors star Pascal Siakam, introduced Burna Boy who started the show with his Outsiders Band and hit song ‘Anybody’. The crowd felt it!
After Burna Boy was next on the roster, bursting the brains of attendees with the multi-platinum-selling ‘Calm Down’, a global hit that trended even during the 2022 World Cup. He followed it up with a mad rendition of his new single, ‘Holiday’.
Tems didn’t let the energy drop either. She gave fans back to back hits with ‘Free Mind’ and ‘Higher’, before signing out with the monstrous ‘Essence’. Burna Boy then returned to close the show with ‘YE’ and ‘Last Last’, proving once more why he is regarded as one of the best live performers in the world.
The game ended with Team Giannis winning the day with 184 points to Team Lebron’s 175. However, e choke with the performances of Burna Boy, Tems, and Rema, fans will not forget that in a hurry as they look forward to the next NBA all-star game, which will take place in Indianapolis in 2024.
