Burna Boy Teases Fans with Mini-Documentary Inspired by Single ‘Whiskey’

Afrobeats icon Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, although Yoruba by birth, grew up in the oil rich Niger Delta region of Nigeria. He is regarded as one of Port Harcourt City’s very finest, having spent most of his early youth and adult days in the Rivers state capital.

Oil and Gas exploitation comes with its pros and cons, and the cons are what that the Nigerian government and its partners have failed to address, to a large extent, often leaving occupants and indigenes of the oil-rich lands facing difficult conditions due to environmental pollution.

Burna Boy in his song Whiskey, off his latest album Love, Damini, spoke on some of the plights facing Niger Delta residents due to environmental pollution from oil exploration.

The Grammy award-winning singer is intent on driving his message home further and has teased a mini-documentary titled Whiskey, drawing inspiration from the similarly titled song.

Burna shared a short clip of the documentary on his Instagram and revealed in the caption that the it will arrive on Thursday, December 8 at 7 pm WAT. Check out the teaser below.

The short clip focused on the residents plagued with black-soothe air pollution caused by uncontrolled gas flaring, and flood-ravaged communities left desolated and impoverished by the government. One of the aggrieved victims says bitterly: I dey vex for federal government.”

Burna Boy has shown solidarity with the Niger Delta people in the past, He has often called out the ineptitude of the government in his songs, especially in his Grammy nominated album African Giant. During the infamous nationwide End SARS protest of 2020, he was one of the most vocal celebrities.
