Rema’s “Calm Down” Moves More Than 500K Units In The US, Certified Gold By RIAA

Rema Calm Down

Rema’s 2022 hit single Calm Down is now certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) after selling more than 500K units in the United States.

Calm Down was one of the lead singles on the Mavin Records’ singer’s debut album Rave & Roses. The 16-track project featured several high-profile international singers, including regular Afrobeats fixture Chris Brown, British singer AJ Tracey, and American rapper 6lack.

Rema followed-up the release of Rave & Roses with a world tour, and during his stop in America, announced that a remix of Calm Down with American pop icon Selena Gomez was in the works. On September 7, the pair shared the collaboration, accompanying it with a record-breaking twosome video.

In barely two months, the video for Calm Down (Remix) has been viewed over 170 million times and counting. The video for the original song, which released in March has also performed remarkably well with 257 million views in only 9 months.

In all, the song’s numbers suggest it’s the shiny star of Rema’s of Rave & Roses, and sees the 22-year-old join an easily exhaustible list of Nigerian musicians to be certified by RIAA.
