‘CKay the First’ Becomes the Most Streamed African Album on Spotify

CKay’s ‘CKay the First’, has become the most streamed album by an African artist on global music streamer Spotify.

The album, which was released in 2019 had hit songs ‘dtf’ and ‘love nwantiti’. According to reports, the project has surpassed Burna Boy’s ‘African Giant’, which previously held the record with 660.9 million streams. Meanwhile, ‘CKay the First’ has now been streamed 661 million times.

It is worthy of note that the globetrotting ‘love nwantiti’ is one of Africa’s biggest exports in recent years. The song earned Afrobeats a debut on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart, and is certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), after selling more than 1 million copies stateside.
