Whoever says no to new music? I don’t know but I know it’s definitely not a music buff like you. Otherwise, you’d not be here. We don’t just want new music from the following artists, we want an album. We feel they’ve had enough time to refuel, hence should have a lot to tell us.
We want an album from the following 5 artists.
#1 Davido
Okay, Davido, what exactly needs to happen before you release that album?
Since Davido revealed that his upcoming album which is provisionally titled ‘We Rise By Lifting Others’ is ready, Ukraine and Russia have gone to war, the World Cup has a new date, and Britain has had two Prime Ministers, a Queen and a new King. Perhaps OBO is waiting for us to have a new President before he finally drops that album, after all, he’s constantly shown us he’s got talent in politics too.
Davido’s last full project was 2020’s A Better Time. A couple of high-profile collaborations, including the first official FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 song Hayya Hayya (Better Together) and the inspiring Stand Strong have helped keep him in the game this year anyways. However, OBO only an album can save you now.
#2 Tems
Not many people would have predicted Tems would make this list.
Tems epitomises talent and hard work. Her travail since 2018 has seen her rise to the global pinnacle of music superstardom and made her fandom one of the fastest ones around the world. Easy to love, yes, but what many people didn’t know is that Tems is yet to make her full album debut.
Given her tenacious nature, brilliance, and talent when I first listened to her, I certainly wouldn’t doubt if I woke up from a 4-year slumber and someone told me Tems had just won best Global Album at the Grammy Awards for the 2nd consecutive time.
Superstars from everywhere have sought after her talent, from Wizkid to Drake to Future and even Beyonce, it’s also rained awards in the last couple of years, the EP’s have been great, no doubt, but it’s high time Tems released a full-length project to cement her legacy as one of the fastest rising global artists.
#3 CKay
Forget Emiliana and Love Nwantiti, CKay has managed to remain an up-and-coming artist for more than 8 years.
Another prodigious talent whose discography is nowhere near his talent is CKay. However, he seems to have found his feet in the last couple of years and we can finally look forward to his full debut.
CKay did tease that the album is titled Sad Romance and if we stick to the teasers, then Watawi featuring Davido and Focalistic is the first single off the upcoming album.
Nonetheless, CKay’s full debut is long overdue and is the only thing we want from him now.
#Wizkid
Shocked to see Wizkid in this list? You shouldn’t be.
FC members have to be some of the most patient people in this world. Wizkid began teasing his next project More Love Less Ego (MLLE) far back as late 2021, first announcing it would release once he completes his tour in January. But 9 months later and not even a single from him has dropped.
A new Wizkid song, Bad To Me will likely release on Wednesday, September 14, but only an album can make up for all the lost time of waiting.
