The popular Nigerian singer recently used his social media platform to throw subtle shades at fellow colleagues in the music industry.
In a post shared on Instagram, Burna Boy expressed that high numbers on digital streaming platforms is making people think that they are actually talented.
He made a reference to viral songs Baby Shark and Gangnam Style, saying if the songs born out of a ‘joke’ could go on to surpass regular streaming numbers, then musicians should not think they are talented or respected because of the numbers they manage to pull on streaming platforms.
“If joke things like Baby Shark and Gangnam Style can do more numbers than everyone, do not think you are talented or respected because of your streaming numbers,” he said.
Speaking further, the Ye crooner said that everyone with real working brains knows what should be considered as a joke and what is real.
He concluded by saying time will eventually reveal all.
