El Muerto: Should Sony Pictures be stopped?

El Muerto

Sony Pictures recently announced their next movie in the Spider-Man universe: El Muerto.

Benito Antonio Martinex Ocasio, better known as the rapper Bad Bunny, will play El Muerto, a character from the “Spider-Man” universe. He will be the first Latino superhero to have his own movie at the Sony side of Marvel.

El Muerto is a most obscure character having being in only two comic book issues. Truly, this can be a good thing because there’s very little history holding the character back, hence can be deliciously spun in directions that tell a good story. Or it can be a disaster because there’s very little to fall back on for inspiration. Either way, Sony isn’t really scoring points with fans of the Spider-Man universe right now and desperately needs a win. Whether El Muerto is the right way to go about this win, that’s a conversation we can have in the comments.

Tell me, do you think El Muerto stands a chance to convert unimpressed fans especially after the widely touted disaster that is Morbius? Let me know in the comments.

El Muerto joins the long list of Sony-Marvel projects lined up for the near future, most notably Kraven the Hunter (starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson) and Madame Web (starring Dakota Johnson).
