Bringing major sad news for TV show lovers as American comedian and host, Ellen DeGeneres, confirmed her long running talk show to end in 2022 after 19 years on air.
In a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, Ellen shared, “When you’re a creative person, you constantly need to be challenged – and as great as this show is, and as fun as it is, it’s just not a challenge anymore.”
DeGeneres’ show broadcast its 3,000th edition last month, in which she admitted it had been an “emotional” experience.
Following the toxic workplace allegations the show suffered last year, the 63-year-old went on to say that the show’s workplace was “dominated by fear” and had not been a factor in her decision to pull the plug.
“If I was quitting the show because of that, I wouldn’t have come back this season,” she said, while admitting it “destroyed” her to see “everything I stand for… attacked.”
Her daily talk show which is a mix of comedy, interviews and human interest stories has won more than 60 Daytime Emmy awards, the most recent coming was when it was named outstanding entertainment talk show in 2020.
The Ellen Show with over thirty seven million subscribers on YouTube regularly attracts A-list Hollywood guests and clips from the show often attract millions of views on YouTube as well.
