Presidential candidate for the National Interest Party (NIP), Eunice Atuejide, has filed a lawsuit at the Federal High Court in Abuja to disqualify President Muhammadu Buhari from the 2019 Presidential election.
The 39 year old lawyer asked the court to compel Mr. President to undergo medical examination and provide proof that he is healthy and fit to run the presidential race.
According to the suit, marked FHC/ABJ/CS/112/2019, Eunice Atuejide brought four summons before the court pursuant to Sections 137(C) and 251(1) of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
She posited that the All Progressive Congress (APC) candidate has shown signs of unsound mind, loss of memory, incoherence, amidst others, publicly and as such should be removed from pursuing the office of President. The summons presented by Atuejide also requested that Mr. President undergoes and be subjected to a medical examination conducted by a team of independent medical experts constituted by the court. After this must have been done, the results of the undertaken examination must be made public to Nigerians and if President Buhari fails the test, he should be disqualified.
President Buhari is both physically and mentally unable to run the affairs of this country beyond 2019. It is my right as a concerned Nigerian, and as an interested party being myself candidate for the forthcoming Presidential elections to raise this alarm, and to take steps to stop this disaster from happening “, she said.
According to her, her investigations showed that President Buhari is “ extremely forgetful, very absent minded, and suffers regular delusion attacks”
The court has ordered that the summon be served on both Buhari and INEC and NIP and Action People’s Party (APP) were listed as plaintiffs. President Buhari and INEC have been asked to appear before the court for the determination of the suit.
Atuejide’s claims can be backed up by recent events where President Buhari had made embarrassing mistakes such as giving the APC flag to its gubernatorial candidate while addressing him as the presidential candidate.
He has misplaced certain dates of past events and and slipped twice in two different states. Concerns have been fueled by the President’s constant medical trips and the controversial undisclosed illness London trip in 2017.
