On May 8, Kendrick Lamar released the latest installment in “The Heart” series.
The new single marked his first solo record since the Black Panther soundtrack but more importantly, it marked the beginning of a new era.
Kendrick emerged from the shadows after a five long years to address “the culture.”
“The Heart” series remains an integral part of the prolific rapper’s artistic supremacy, highlighting his desires, fears, and maturity.
The first song of the series dropped in March 2010, months after the release of his eponymous EP. The second part arrived just months later as the intro to Overly Dedicated.

Since then, he’s won a bunch of Grammies and the much coveted pulitzer.
