As per multiple reports, one of Hollywood’s finest, Harrison Ford is set to be the latest veteran actor to be welcomed in the MCU in the role of General Thaddeus ‘Thunderbolt’ Ross, a role previously held actor William Hurt until his passing.
William Hurt firt played Ross in the MCU in 2008’s The Incredible Hulk. He went on to reprise the role in four more movies, the last of which was Black Widow in 2021. He died in March 2021 from complications of prostrate cancer.
Rumors of the Star Wars and Indiana Jones star’s potential casting began circulating in September just few weeks after Marvel’s D23 Expo with several reports claiming he was Marvel Studio’s “top choice” and would make his first appearance in MCU’s mini ensemble film, Thunderbolts slated for a 2024 release.
Film, yesterday independently confirmed that Ford would be replacing Hurt as Thunderbolt Ross and would be making his first appearance in Captain America: New World Order.
Marvel Studios has not commented on the story as of this time.
