Hollywood has been thrown into mourning once again as Mary Mara, star of hit shows like ER and Ray Donovan dies in an apparent drowning accident in a river in New York City.
The New York State Police responded to a call at 08:10 local time on Saturday, with the caller reporting a “possible drowning”.
Mara’s manager, Craig Dorfman, confirmed her death in a statement, where he referred to her as one of the finest actresses he has ever encountered.
“Mary was one of the finest actresses I ever met,” Dorfman stated.
“I still remember seeing her onstage in 1992 in ‘Mad Forest’ off Broadway. She was electric, funny, and a true individual. Everyone loved her. She will be missed.”
It is reported that the police have cleared Mary Mara’s death of foul play after discovering her body in the St. Lawrence River.
“On June 26, 2022, at 08:10, State Police responded to 33753 Old Farm Road in the town of Cape Vincent, Jefferson County for a reported possible drowning,” a police statement started.
“When Troopers, along with Cape Vicent Fire and Ambulance arrived on the scene, they discovered a female deceased in the St. Lawrence River.
“The victim has been identified as 61-year-old Mary T. Mara from Cape Vincent, NY.
“The preliminary investigation suggests the victim drowned while swimming.
“The victim’s body showed no signs of foul play and was transported to the Jefferson County Medical Examiner’s Office pending an autopsy to determine an official cause of death. The investigation is continuing.”
