House Of The Dragon: Was That Time-Jump In Episode 6 Too Much For You To Bear?

House of the Dragon has jumped 11 years into the future

House of the Dragon had its biggest time jump yet in the most recent episode (s01e06), titled The Princess and The Queen

Already setting itself apart from its predecessor, Game of Thrones, by breezing through years of stories within a few episodes, House of the Dragon may have beaten more than it can chew with the audience. The episode opened with a jarring scene of a woman giving birth, reminiscent of a certain episode 1 scene. It’s only a matter of time before casual viewers are let in on the open secret that the character is Princess Rhaenyra, formerly played by Milly Alcock in episodes 1 – 5, and now by Emma D’Arcy. Also on this wave of recast is Olivia Cooke taking over the role of Queen Alicent Hightower from Emily Carey. Story wise, the recasting makes sense. It’s been a whole 11 years between both episodes and with much older recasting to follow in the future for the kids their characters have, it’s only fitting that we have more mature people convincingly playing mothers and power-thirsty matriarchs.

Matt Ramos on Twitter: “This episode was so much to take in. The actor change. The children. The relationships drama. This time jump was jarring. #HouseOfTheDragon / Twitter”

I mean I’ve watched every episode of #HouseOfTheDragon , I’ve wanted to care… but in the end, this series just lacks the stickiness and grip that #GOT had on me. I thought maybe the jump in time for the last episode would hook, but alas, nope. https://t.co/N1ksozOfzv / Twitter”
