Wolverine star Hugh Jackman is set to star in Academy Award winner Florian Zeller’s second entry in his spiritual trilogy The Son following the release critically acclaimed 2020 film The Father.
Cowritten and directed by Zeller, The Son draws acting talents from the likes of Vanessa Kirby, Laura Dern, Zen McGrath and Anthony Hopkins in addition to Jackman.
The film which is a based on one of Zeller’s plays of the same name centers on another family drama which sees Hugh Jackman’s Peter try to cater to the needs of his troubled 17-year-old son Nicholas (McGrath) with ex-wife Kate (Dern) whose presence creates an imbalance in his home with new partner (Kirby).
The trailer for The Son is reminiscent of The Father which received much praise, wining several awards and nominations in 2020 including Best Actor for Anthony Hopkins for his role as Anthony. One can’t help but wonder if there’s an Academy Award in store for Jackman having been nominated once before for his role in 2012’s Les Miserables.
The Son will be released on November 11 following its festival premiere in September.
