Amidst all the uncertainty surrounding the DCU’s future, James Gunn has kept his word and revealed exactly what the future holds for the franchise and every movie lined up in the years to come.
In a special event put together for the reveal, James Gun unveiled the first half of Chapter 1 of the DCU branded “Gods & Monsters” kicking off in 2025. It comprises of a total of 10 movies and television shows in a universe interconnected in a similar fashion as the MCU.
The list of movies and TV shows are as follows:
A non-origin story focused on the last son of Krypton’s struggle to balance his superhero life with his human one. James Gunn is said to be currently writing the script and Safran is also said to direct.
It is scheduled to be released on July 11, 2025.
According to Gunn, he is currently developing this film which will be based on Wildstorm characters. The Authority explores antiheroes with good intentions having to go to extremes to fix try and fix the broken world.
A release date is yet to be revealed.
The Brave and The Bold
The Brave and the Bold will be a Batman and Robin story with a whole new Batman. The film is said to the new relationship between Bruce Wayne and his son Damian. The film is also feature some other members of the Bat family.
No directors or actors have been attached to the project at this time and no release date has been set.
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow
Kara Danvers also gets a solo run in the new DCU. Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow will explore the life her life as she is forced to watch so many loved ones die tragically in Krypton’s destruction.
A horror Swamp Thing movie also in lined up for the future. It is said to explore the daark origin story of swamp Thing.
The only animated series announced as part of the slate, Creature Commandos will center around Rick Flagg Sr. Nina Mazursky, Doctor Phosphorus, Eric Frankenstein, Bride of Frankenstein (who is the protagonist), G.I. Robot, and Weasel.
The spin off Waller series announced before ow is still moving forward with Viola Davis in reprising her titular role. The series is said to take place between Peacemaker seasons 1 and 2. Doom Patrol executive producer Jeremy Carver and Watchmen scribe Christal Henry are overseeing the film series.
A Green Lantern TV series is another addition to the slate. The series will center on Hal Jordan and John Stewart. Gunn revealed at the event that it will be a detective mystery with the Green Lanterns serving as super cops.
Paradise Lost will be a prequel series focusing on the origin of Themyscira before Diana Prince’s time. The series is said to have a similar outlook as Game of Thrones, exploring the political game that played on Themyscira.
Booster Gold will focus on the future tech superhero with impostor syndrome. As per several reports, the studio is currently speaking to an unspecified actor to play the role.
