Jay-Z Finally Joins Instagram After 11 Years

Hov’s first post was about his executive-produced Netflix western The Harder They Fall, and his wife is the only account he follows for now.

Eleven years after Instagram was founded, legendary American rapper Jay Z has finally signed up on the social media platform, sending fans who were surprised by the move into excitement.

The Rap mogul isn’t one for keeping up with social media like his peers who like to troll others, give inspirational video updates, or share clips of themselves in the studio. Fans have often popped up with accounts dedicated to Hov, some amassing followers into the hundreds of thousands as they post daily about the New York icon,

For now, things are looking pretty bare aside from Jay’s first post about the star-studded Netflix western (The Harder They Fall) he executive produced and has been promoting.

Although the movie was officially released weeks ago, it will premiere on Netflix tomorrow, so Jay-Z is getting a headstart on promotion. To help get the word out, Beyoncé even reposted her husband’s Instagram Story about the film’s release. Just like you’d expect, BK’s the only person Jay is following for now.

Additionally, Jay-Z’s number of followers is growing by the minute and at the time of this publication, he was already up to 1,3M.

We can’t wait to see what he’ll be sharing- if anything- but for now, check out Hova’s first post and a few reactions from fans below:

Young Daddy on Twitter: “Jay-Z been on IG for a few hours and already people are criticizing him. He follows ONLY Beyonce??? And you wonder why he’s like f social media. / Twitter”
