Stranger Things has their way with music, and Running Up That Hill is the latest feature in the hit Netflix series that’s got people talking.
‘Running Up That Hill,’ originally titled ‘A Deal With God’ is an oldie song from British RNB singer Catherine Bush, one of the songs on her 1985 list play ‘Hounds of Love.’ The record was released in August 5th 1985, originally peaking at No. 3 on the UK charts, No. 6 on Australian charts and No. 30 on the US Billboard Hot 100.
However, almost four decades later, the song has seen a resurgence in popularity after it was featured in the 4th season of American sci-fi thriller series ‘Stranger Things.’ Check out a snippet of the song’s feature below.
‘Running Up That Hill‘ reached the number one spot on the US iTunes chart back in May when the season premiered. It also climbed to No. 1 on the UK charts, earning Bush her first No. 1 since “Wuthering Heights” in 1978.
The record has broken 3 chart records in the process: the longest-ever gap between Number 1 singles, the longest time for a single to reach No. 1, and the oldest female artist (at 63) ever to score a No. 1.
