Kendrick Lamar is about to take over the internet. The American rapper will release his highly anticipated fifth studio album on May 13, and he kick-started his rollout on May 8 with a brand-new song and video for “The Heart Part 5.”
“The Heart Part 5” is the fifth of a series of songs that Kendrick began in 2010, with each entry preceding a new Kendrick Lamar album.
Kendrick dons a white round neck and a bandana scarf in the video, looking off camera against a red background, before mouthing the words: “As I get a little older, I realize life is perspective.”
The song’s lyrics are full of samples, interpolations and references to culture.
About 1 min 45 seconds into the song, his face changes into former American football player, media personality and socialite OJ Simpson’s.
The trick continues throughot the 5-minute-long video, with Kendrick taking on the phizogs of Kanye West, Jussie Smollet, Will Smith — stars who have been in the news for recent disturbing behaviour.

Towards the end of the video and during the song’s final verse, Lamar also morphs into late Los Angeles giants, basketballer Kobe Bryant who died in a heli-crash in 2020 and rapper Nipsey Hussle who was shot dead in 2019.
Like typical K. Lamar records, he tackles the ills, hypocrisies, and the dichotomies of “the culture.”
As for what we know about Kendrick’s forthcoming album, we think it might actually be a double project, as implied by a picture he posted on his website oklama.com on 3rd May.

As previously hinted by the “Damn” rapper, the album’s title is “Mr Morale & The Big Steppers.”
However, should the cryptic message he tried to pass via the picture be true, that title is about to be split into two independent projects; Mr Morale and The Steppers.
