Ahead of the President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari’s, campaign for reelection tour in Lagos state on Saturday, the state government on Wednesday announced diversions and restrictions on traffic on 18 routes in the state.
Demola Seriki, Chairman, Transport Committee on APC presidential campaign, said this was necessary to ensure free flow of traffic for when the President visits the state for his campaign tour. He said this was to ensure that those who would not be at the venue of the campaign do not get stuck in traffic but follow alternative routes.
The 18 restricted routes include:
- Surulere and its environs
- Marina Road
- Ikorodu Road
- Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way
- Third Mainland Bridge
- International Airport Road
- Agege Motor Road
- Yaba and its environs
- Ijora Olopa
- Apapa Road
- Oshodi/Oworonshoki Expressway, amongst others.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the campaign with flag off at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Surulere.
Seriki said the routed will be closed form 10.00am to 6.00pm. Alternative routes will be provided. He also added that the visit will afford the President the opportunity to meet and address the people directly about his plans and programs he intends to set up if reelected.
Seriki announced that the target population is over 100,000 supporters and he begged the people to understand and turn out en masse to receive the president.
