Following a brief hiatus, veteran Nigerian actor and filmmaker Lancelot Imasuen is primed up to make his comeback to the Nollywood movie scene with the release of his upcoming film, Gbege.
Imasuen who began his filmmaking journey as far back as 1995 has been credited with almost 200 movies, including hits like Bent Arrows and Invasion 1987. He was also one of the subjects of the 2008 Canadian documentary. Nollywood Babylon. His 2014 film, Invasion 1897 re-enacting the historical events that resulted in the 1897 invasion and looting of ancient West African kingdom of Benin earned him an award for Best Director at the BON awards.
His latest film project Gbege tells the story of a troubled man who loses his father while serving a life sentence. He appeals for a temporary release to lay his father to rest properly but the law is no respecter of tradition. Imasuen promises a story filled with twists so intriguing and captivating moviegoers are assured of a worthy time at the cinemas.
Gbege is set to feature some of Nollywood’s biggest names like Jide Kosoko, Ebeke Okaro, Sam Dede, Mercy Aigbe, and Ini Edo. Actors also slated to appear include Zubby, Sanni Muaizu, Charles Inojie, Harry B, Broda Shaggi, Nosa Rex, Junior Pope and Angela Eguavoen.
Gbege will be released in cinemas nationwide on October 7.
