Lojay has shared a new EP titled GANGSTER ROMANTIC The 7-track project is the singer’s second, and a follow-up to his amazing debut ‘LV N ATTN’ with iconic producer Sarz. LV N ATTN had the hit record ‘Monalisa,’ which has played a chief part in Lojay’s ascension.
GANGSTER ROMANTIC has only two guest artists: South African musicians DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small. The album is a blend of Afrobeats, Amapiano, and R&B, with Lojay’s opulent and enticing falsetto proving the glue that binds everything together.
Indeed, the album presents the best of chaos and orderliness, beyond any ostensibility suggested by its title. “For one, [the itle] was just an expression of a lot of negative emotions from past relationships, Lojay tells Apple Music. He continues, “The album is very brutal, honest, raw and rough. It gives off his gangster vibe, but is still a very romantic project.”
Track number 4 Afropop tune Motto was the second song to drop off the album, and is already a fan favorite on streamers. Meanwhile, lead single Canada featuring Maphorisa and Kabza De Small and Availabu rep the project’s Amapiano axis. IYD, OVA, and opening track Yahweh are signature Lojay soulful R&B songs, while Leader packs on the typical Afrobeats flavors.
