It looks like Netflix’s woes aren’t yet behind it. The streaming giant recently released its numbers for Q2 2022 and they don’t look good.
Even though Netflix released new seasons of hit shows like Stranger Things in the quarter, it still wasn’t enough to stop them from losing ~970,000 subscribers in addition to the ~200,000 subscribers it lost earlier in the year. That’s over a million subscribers lost, so far.
The 200k subscribers loss saw Netflix fire >150 members of its staff in a move to lessen running costs on its end, it remains to be seen what repercussions this latest 970k loss will bring with it.
Netflix may still be the #1 streaming service in the world, but for how much longer? With its competitors – Apple TV, HBO Max, Amazon Prime and Disney+, and co. – fast on its heels, Netflix, once the trailblazing new kid on the block, is now the prize to beat.
Should this be the end of Netflix’s reign, which of the other streaming services do you think will wear the crown?
