Wizkid has continued to enjoy an extended run of recognition, and award for collaborating with Beyonce on the global hit song ‘Brown Skin Girl‘. Alongside Wizkid, American rapper SAINt JHN, and Beyonce’s daughter Blu were also featured on the evergreen joint that has been nominated for the best RNB song at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards.

By featuring on the joint, Wiz has won two Soul Train Music Awards, the BET Awards, two NAACP Awards and a Grammy for Best Video in 2021.

Other records in the category include ‘Leave the Door Open’ by Bruno Mars, Anderso, Paak, Silk Sonic, ‘Go Crazy by Chris Brown and Young Thug, ‘Heartbreak Anniversary’ by Giveon, ‘Come Through by H.E.R. ft. Chris Brown and ‘Good Days’ by SZA.

Justin Bieber leads this year’s class of VMA nominees with an impressive total of seven nominations, including Artist of the Year and several nods for his Justice standout cuts “Holy” and “Peaches.” Right behind Justin Bieber is Megan Thee Stallion, as the Good News artist looks to increase her moon person trophy collection with six new nominations. According to Complex, Drake, Lil Nas X, Olivia Rodrigo, Billie Eilish, BTS, Doja Cat, and Giveon all secured five nods apiece.

However, there is one artist who is noticeably but unsurprisingly absent from the VMA nominations this year — DaBaby. His popular collaboration with Dua Lipa is in fact nominated for Song of the Year, but the Charlotte, North Carolina artist’s name isn’t attached to the nomination at all following his recent controversy with homophobia. Despite DaBaby’s exclusion from the field of nominees, several other artists like SZA, Lil Baby, and Moneybagg Yo will still have a chance to take home one of the newly designed MTV VMA moon person trophies.
