In a recent interview with content creator Timi Agbaje, popular Nigerian singer Portable revealed his lifelong ambition of joining the short list of elite Nigerians to win the Grammy.
Agbaje asked Portable what fulfilment would mean to him, and the ‘Zazuu’ singer admitted it would be winning the Grammy. “Na to collect Grammy”, he said.
This is coming in the wake of Tems winning her maiden Grammy award for her work on Future’s 2022 smash, ‘Wait For U’ also featuring Drake. Portable added that he thinks he will win music’s most coveted award with his debut album ‘Ika of Africa’. The album released in November 2022.
When asked which female Nigerian artists he’d love to work with, he said Asa. Renowned for his frequent social media meltdowns, when the interviewer quizzed Portable on the subject, he implied he uses it to avoid being ripped off by people, especially fellow creatives.
In his short mainstream career spanning barely 3 years, Portable has fought with record labels, music executives, etc. He even recently called out video director TG Omori, claiming the videographer charged him an outrageous 50K dollars for a video shoot.
