Naira Marley Performs at APC Mega Rally in Lagos

Singer Naira Marley attended and performed at the grand and final rally of the Presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which took place on Tuesday, 21st February 2023 at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.

With a lot of pressure on celebrities to declare their support for the candidate of the opposition Labour Party, Peter Obi, a former Governor of Anambra state (viewed by many as the more progressive and technocratic choice), Naira Marley’s cameo at the rally has been met with lots of divided opinions online. While some people wonder whether he’s going to be canceled like celebrities who have recently voiced their support for Tinubu, others think he was merely grinding for his money.

However, the Lagos native, who is one of Nigeria’s most controversial musicians, may have subtly hinted at where his allegiances lie.

Campaigns for the 2023 general election are at the tail end now; Nigerians will go to the polls on Saturday, 25th February.
