Black Mirror has been on air since 2011 but only has five seasons. That’s to tell you how much time and effort goes into making this critically acclaimed Sci-Fi series.
The last season premiered in June 2019 and, now, three years later, Netflix has announced the 6th season is finally in development.
An anthology, each episode of Black Mirror tells a standalone story much like The Twilight Zone did during its 1959 – 1964 run on CBS. It depicts life in an abstrusely dystopian future, where several individuals grapple with the manipulative effects of cutting-edge technology in their personal lives and behaviours.
The show has featured appearances from a number of well-known actors, including Hayley Atwell, Bryce Dallas Howard, Daniel Kaluuya, Jon Hamm, Miley Cyrus, Jesse Plemons, Anthony Mackie, Jodie Whitaker, Jon Hamm, and Michaela Coel, to mention but a few.
Details regarding the upcoming season remain sketchy as production is still in its infancy, but it’s expected to be “even more cinematic than past installments, with each episode being treated essentially as its own individual film.”
There’s no word yet on a potential release date for Black Mirror season 6.
