The trailer for A Jazzman’s Blues, an upcoming drama film by entertainment mogul and ace film maker Tyler Perry has been released by Netflix. The film written, directed and produced by Perry tells the story of a young black couple forced to navigate the world and the deep south in the 1940s.
In an interview with People, Perry disclosed how special the film was to him, describing it as the first screenplay he ever wrote.
“I wrote it in 1995. It was the first screenplay I ever wrote. The two characters are just trying to find their own way in the world. Initially, I wanted to play the lead role of Bayou, but that was 1995 — I aged out.”
The drama film scheduled for a September 11 world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival features the likes of Joshua Boone, Amirah Vann, Solea Pfeiffer, Austin Scott, Milauna Jemai Jackson, Brent Antonello, Brad Benedict, Kario Marcel, Lana Young, and Ryan Eggold.
