New Music Friday (Vol.24): Enjoy the Latest Releases from Falz & Tekno, AKA, Stormzy & Rema, Tay Iwar and more

In this week’s edition of Media Rants New Music Friday, we’re paying homage to late South African rapper, Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes, who was assassinated by gunshot earlier this month. Before his death, AKA had already set plans in motion for the rollout of his fourth solo studio album, Mass Country. The 14-track project dropped today, 24th February, and will prove the Super Mega’s swansong in an illustrious career that spanned nearly one and a half decades. AKA consistently challenged the norm with his unique style. He pushed the boundaries of hip-hop in Africa and achieved what most people thought was impossible. He was not only a rap star, but AKA was also a pop star, making music that mocked genres. He departs this world as one of Africa’s finest to ever do it, and his discography and awards speak for him.

AKA’s new song ‘Sponono’ featuring Baby S.O.N and 031choppa is our headline feature for this week. There’s also new music from Falz and Tekno ‘Owa’, Stormzy and Rema, Tay Iwar, Tiwa Savage, Black Sherif, and more.

Keep scrolling to see the songs that have made it to our best new lineup for this week.
