According to PRNigeria, music icons 2Baba aka 2Face Idibia and Burna Boy, and Teni the Entertainer have all been unveiled as part of the nominated 437 individuals who will be honoured with the Federal Republic of Nigeria Awards.
The National Award, which is presented by the president, rewards remarkable achievements and service to the country.
This year’s conferment ceremony will take place on Tuesday, October 11 at the State House in Abuja, where President Muhammadu Buhari (GCFR), chief host will present awardees with their medals.
Other notable nominees on the list include Professor Ngozi Okonjo Iweala, the Director General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) and Amina Jane Mohammed, the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations.
The honours available for grabs include 5 Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON) awards, 54 awardees for Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (CFR), 67 Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON) awards, 64 Officer of the Order of the Federal Republic (OFR), 101 Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON), 75 Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR), 56 Member of the Order of the Niger (MON) awards, and 8 Federal Republic Medal (FRM) awards.
One-time Grammy winner Burna Boy will earn an MFR honour while 2Baba and Teni will both earn the MON awards.
