Nigerian actor Jimmy Odukoya, son of late Pastor Bimbo Odukoya is the latest Nollywood-lister to make the crossover to Hollywood. He will star alongside Hollywood A-listers Viola Davis, John Boyega, Lupita Nyong’O, and South African star Thuso Mbedu in TriStar’s forthcoming historical African epic drama “The Woman King”.
Odukoya has acted in several Nollywood movies including popular title “The Bling Lagosians” in 2019.

It was mixed feelings for the actor, given that he recently lost his stepmother Nomthi Odukoya, and couldn’t hide his grief in the middle of celebrating the achievement, as he took to Instagram, writing:
“The timing of this is crazy to me but God has a way of continuing to shine light during difficult times. Truly humbled and honoured to star alongside the iconic @violadavis and all the amazing cast and to be directed by the legendary @gpbmadeit . Thank you @farafrique.actors @funlolafar.”
“The Woman King” is based on a screenplay by Dana Stevens and directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood. Inspired by true events, it is set in 18th century Africa and is centred on Nanisca (Davis), a fearless General of the all-female military unit of the Dahomey kingdom and Nawi (Mbedu), an ambitious recruit of the unit, as they try to defend their lands from invaders, and prevent them from destroying everything they’ve ever lived for.
Also joining the cast of “The Woman King” includes Jayme Lawson, Hero Fiennes Tiffin, and Masali Baduza. The film is expected in theatres worldwide around September of 2022.
