Rapper, Olamide has recounted a previous experience he admitted nearly made him “angry.” According to the YBNL boss, the incident happened during his formative years, when he was still signed to ID Cabasa’s Coded Tunez, his childhood label where he recorded his first album Rapsodi.

Olamide said a senior artist sent him to buy food and ended up accusing him of pocketing his change, when, actually, the money he gave him wasn’t enough, making Olamide use his good initiative to add his own money to enable him to execute the errand. He added that it took the intervention of his boss ID Cabasa to prevent his temper from flaring. However, he did not share the artist’s name despite saying he is an Olamide fan today and both musicians are looking to collaborate.

“I was in the studio when this senior artiste came in to record a song, and he said he was hungry. Who else will he send to buy food if not me who was the youngest in the studio? The money he gave me was not enough for his meal, so I decided to add my own money. I even used my money to pay for transportation,” said the Lagos Na Wa singer.

He continued: “When I got back to the studio with the food, guess what this guy said to me? “Cabasa, tell this your boy to give me my change. If he wants money, he should tell me and I will give him. He should not use a trick to steal my money. I almost got angry, but one look from ID Cabasa calmed me down. Today, the guy is one of my biggest fans and he is planning to do a song with me.”

Olamide released Rapsodi in 2011, and since then, he’s released 10 other solo studio albums and several collaborative albums. Today, he’s one of Nigeria’s most successful musicians and music executives. His YBNL outfit is responsible for propelling the likes of Lil Kesh, Young Jonn, Pheelz, Adekunle Gold, Fireboy DML, and Asake to the limelight.
