Afronation 2022: Omah Lay Apologises to Fan Who Said His Performance was Insipid

The Afronation festival went down last weekend in Portimao, Portugal with many of Afrobeats’ big names in attendance. During day 1 of the event, fans were treated to performances from Davido, Omah Lay, PSquare, Rema, CKay and more.

However, a viral TikTok video of a dissatisfied fan, who complained about Rema and, particularly Omah Lay’s performances, has attracted the attention of the Infinity singer on Twitter.

The fan started her complaints by commending the setup before going on to allege that Omah Lay and Rema didn’t live up to expectations, as they had their records playing in the background rather than performing live for the audience.

Lay reacted to the video saying: “Apologies to you and all the fans that feel this way. I woulda loved to give you better but I had to do this entire show without hearing myself cuz I wasn’t provided with sound on my IEM.”

He continued, “I’ve been on the road almost every other night since March and it’s been 🔥 but challenges pop up and we choose to either do the best we can or not perform at all.”

Omah Lay’s Boy Alone Tour of the US and Canada later this year. His debut studio project of similar title will drop on July 15, after several delays.
