Peter Okoye (Mr P) of the now defunct music group, Psquare has taunted his haters; those who allegedly thought he wasn’t going to survive after choosing to break up with his twin brother, Paul Okoye (Rude Boy) and their band.
The 39-year-old took to his Facebook page on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 to reaffirm his decision to go solo, alleging that he’s better off now.
“Team P! What were they thinking? That I wasn’t going to survive Alone? They just can’t stand the fact that I am Richer now and doing well for myself. Pained! And this post is for them and them alone! Just Watch them referring this post to my family as usual! Odes! Watch them start preaching!” Peter wrote.“
He continued: “Like I said! Haters pls comment and Identify yourself on this post and my management will separate you out from my true fans. The Blocking also includes the people that liked and support the comment!”
“You must not like my doings! So Feel free to unfollow and unlike this my page! Or better still identify yourself so we can Block you! Have a very good morning!”
The Psquare saga is one that has resulted in a debacle that continues to make the rounds in Nigerian entertainment after the brothers enjoyed many successful years together. Their union birthed several classic Nigerian songs including “Busy Body,” “Temptation,” “Get Squared,” and “Do Me,” to name but a few.
Rumours of their split first broke in 2015 but was debunked by the brothers whom at that time, fought to keep their house in order.
However, after a couple of years, the centre could no longer hold, and in 2017, it became inevitable that what once was the best music duo in Nigeria would be no more.
Mr P has remained adamant the separation has benefitted him, going on to drop his first solo album (The Prodigal) since the split earlier this year. Although “The Prodigal” divided opinions when it dropped, Peter may just still be basking in the fame and success he garnered while he was part of Psquare.
