Popular Nigerian film production house Play Network Studios on Tuesday July 6 revealed titles of seven movies that are set for futuristic debuts. The announcement came via the studio’s official Instagram handle with the caption, “Which of our movies are you looking forward to? Tell us 😉.”
The list includes the long-anticipated remake of the 1994 classic Nigerian thriller “Glamour Girls”. It also contains two biographical dramas in “King Jaja of Opobo” and “Shina Rambo,” which will centre around the stories of their titular characters. “The ’93 Highjack” is also a historical feature that follows the 1993 skyjacking of a Nigerian Airways aircraft. The rest titles are “Aki and Paw”, “Man In The Mirror” and the studio’s original story “The Six”, which is an alleged spinoff of “Living In Bondage: Breaking Free” and will revolve around Ramsey Nouah’s oracular character Richard Williams.
Of all the projects, “Glamour Girls”is the only one with a potentially confirmed cinematic release schedule of December 2021. It’s not however clear if principal photography has commenced for the reboot or any of the other projects on the list.
