Bridgerton: Queen Charlotte Spin-off Coming To Netflix

Dearest Reader, it may please you to know that Bridgerton has been so successful for Netflix, the streaming service is now confident they can make more content away from the existing Julia Quinn books.

Netflix and Shondaland are fast-moving forward with plans to launch their first spin-off centering on Queen Charlotte (Golda Rosheuvel). The series will be a prequel story and newcomer India Amarteifio is expected to portray the character.

The series is expected to follow “Queen Charlotte’s rise to prominence and power.” According to an official press release, the show is expected to spotlight Queen Charlotte and King George’s origin story and how their relationship “sparked both a great love story and a societal shift.”

It’s also an origin story of how the world of Bridgerton got to be so diverse. How did we come to have a black Queen, a black Duke, a Viscountess of Indian origin? Basically, this spin-off will show us the beginning of ” the world of the Ton inherited by the characters in ‘Bridgerton.'”

Taking to Twitter, the microblogging site, the show announced:

“All hail Queen Charlotte!
For her next series, Lady @ShondaRhimes will chronicle Her Majesty’s rise to prominence and esteemed power in a prequel that shall witness Golda Rosheuvel reprise her role and India Amarteifio join the Ton as young Queen Charlotte.”

Also providing more details on who else from the original show will be appearing, the account said,

“Additionally, Lady Danbury @andoh_adjoa and Arsema Thomas as her younger self will also be participating in the social season, alongside none other than Ruth Gemmell as Lady Bridgerton and Corey Mylchreest as a young King George.”
