According to multiple sources, five policemen attached to Burna Boy have been detained for battery and attempted murder after they attacked two clubbers, Irebami Lawrence and Tolu.
A couple of days ago, Burna and his entourage were rumoured to have started a fight at Club Cubana in Victoria Island.
A preliminary report by the Bar Beach Police Division of the are admitted the incident took place on June 8, at about 4 AM.
Eye witness reports say the altercation started when Burna Boy who was present at the VIP section of the club invited a clubber’s wife over to party with him, and angered the husband of the said woman in the process.
However, Burna remained persistent, resulting in a heated brawl between his entourage and the couple’s friends. One of the singer’s security guards then drew his gun and fired multiple times. In the process, 27-year-old Lawrence was shot in the thigh while Tolu narrowly escaped a bullet to the head with a scratch.
“Aware of what he had done, Burna Boy took the next flight out without even informing the policemen. He only made a video call to them to inform them that he had travelled to Spain. All his police escorts have been arrested and are currently at the Command headquarters,” said a top source at the office of the Lagos State Commissioner of Police.
Sources close to the victims said the police were already making attempts to protect Burna Boy because of his status while the victims remain in the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja where they’re getting their wounds tended.
All attempts from the media to reach the management of Club Cubana, VI, Lagos have proved futile as efforts to reach the Grammy winner’s management team.
Nonetheless, Burna Boy is currently in Spain, where he is headlining a concert.
